The first book in Philip Reeve’s Mortal Engines series is a technical marvel that brings to life the dangers of a post-apocalyptic world. The characters are well developed, and the action is exciting. It’s definitely worth reading, but there are some things you should know before diving into this book.
Philip Reeve’s Mortal Engines is the first in the series and has been adapted into a movie by Peter Jackson.

The book follows Tom Natsworthy, Hester Shaw, Thaddeus Valentine and Katherine Valentine as they travel across a world where cities move on wheels to survive. The setting is quite interesting with the characters having different backgrounds. They all have their own unique personality which makes them likeable and easy to relate to.
The writing style of Philip Reeve is very good as well as his research on everything that goes into building a story such as how engines work or how people behave when they are scared etcetera.”
The Hunt for Tom Maximo
As the book begins, Hester and Shrike are still searching for Tom. They have been searching for him ever since he was kidnapped by a group of Stalkers who had mistaken him for one of their own. Tom is rescued by Hester and Shrike, but not before he’s taken to the Green Storm’s base in the Arkangel. There he reunites with his mother Katherine and father Thaddeus Valentine, who have been living there since their rescue from London (see “The Castellan’s Daughter” if you want to know more about what happened after this).
After returning home with his family, Tom decides that it would be best if they left England altogether—but first they need some supplies so that they can continue their journey across country on foot as soon as possible!
Love At First Sight
The relationship between Hester and Tom is a fascinating one, as it develops over the course of the book. They meet at a party thrown by their mutual friend, Elias Ryker. At first glance, they have little in common—Hester is an orphan; Tom just got out of prison and has no money or possessions except for his scars (which he hides under bandages). But these differences don’t matter to them as much as their shared love for London and its inhabitants. They quickly become friends with each other, but it isn’t long before they start falling in love with each other as well!
London Docks
The London docks are a major location in the book, and they’re where Hester Shaw and Tom Natsworthy first meet. They fall in love there, too. When Tom is injured on his way to see Hester, he goes back to the dock for help from another character named Bullseye (who’s also aVALUE OF THIS ARTICLE). Bullseye tells him that if he wants any chance at surviving this catastrophe-like situation, then he must stay away from everyone else—especially Hester! But it turns out that what’s really happening here isn’t an apocalypse but rather just another form of class warfare being waged between workers versus owners; however, since there aren’t many other options available right now except hiding underground somewhere or dying quickly after entering some kind of futuristic cityscape where everything is destroyed except for maybe someone who has access to technology like robots or something similar which could possibly save us all after everything else goes wrong…
Unexpected Allies
In the first book, Tom and Hester meet an old friend – Hester’s cousin, Jaimy. They also get to know the Anti-Traction League (ATL), who are a group of people who oppose the idea that cities should be moved around by means of engines. In this book, they meet another ally: Stalkers! These Stalkers were originally hunters for food but now live in London because there is no more food for them to hunt or eat. The Stalker helps Tom and Hester escape from London after helping them escape from one of their pursuers with his own powers as well as using his own body against him so that he could protect Tom from being killed by someone else trying to kill him too!
The Final Chapter
In the final chapter of Mortal Engines, we find ourselves in the midst of an event that has been building since the beginning. The question is: what happens next?
The answer is not so simple as it seems at first glance. We’re still on board with Tom Natsworthy and Hester Shaw as they try to escape from London, but their journey isn’t easy—and when they finally reach safety, there’s no guarantee that things will stay that way for long.
Mortal Engines is an awesome book series and the movie adaptation is pretty good too.
Mortal Engines is a book series and the movie adaptation is pretty good too. The book is written by Philip Reeve, who also wrote the first two books in this series (Mortal Engines and Predator’s Gold), so I know it will be a great read for me.
I think that Mortal Engines is better than its sequel but not by much since they both have their own unique qualities that make them stand out from each other. In my opinion, there are some things that really make this story stand out compared to other similar science fiction stories such as Ender’s Game or Dune Chronicles because it combines history with steampunk elements which makes it even more interesting than any other kind of sci-fi story out there today!
Conclusion
In conclusion, Mortal Engines is an awesome book series and the movie adaptation is pretty good too. The movie has its flaws but they’re not enough to ruin the experience of watching it onscreen. If you are looking for something new to read then this may be worth checking out!
